1. Acceptance of these terms

By using FortBudget or this website, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.

You must be legally able to enter into these terms in the place where you live. If you use FortBudget for another person or organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for them.

2. What FortBudget is—and is not

FortBudget is a personal budgeting and record-keeping tool. It lets you manually enter financial information, prepare a zero-based budget, review transactions, and create user-initiated exports or backups.

FortBudget does not connect to a bank and does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice.

Results depend on the information you enter. You are responsible for checking your records and making your own financial decisions.

3. Limited license and acceptable use

If FortBudget is made available to you, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, subject to Apple’s applicable usage rules.

You may not:

  • use FortBudget in a way that violates applicable law;
  • attempt to disrupt, damage, or misuse the app or website;
  • remove ownership notices or misrepresent FortBudget as your own service;
  • reverse engineer or circumvent technical protections except where applicable law expressly allows it.

4. Your data and backups

You retain responsibility for the financial information you enter, import, or export. FortBudget is designed to store the budgeting ledger locally, but no storage technology eliminates every risk of loss, device damage, or unauthorized access.

  • Keep your device passcode secure and install iOS security updates.
  • Review CSV files before sharing them; CSV exports are not encrypted.
  • Store encrypted backup files somewhere you trust and keep the passphrase separately. A lost passphrase cannot be recovered.
  • Test that the files you depend on remain available to you.

The in-app Delete All Data action is permanent for the local budgeting database. It does not remove copies you exported or saved elsewhere.

5. Apple-managed purchases

If optional paid features are made available, purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple’s App Store terms, billing practices, refund rules, and purchase-history policies apply. FortBudget receives the verified entitlement state needed to determine feature access.

Availability, features, and pricing may change before release or as permitted by applicable law and the App Store.

6. Changes and availability

FortBudget is currently in development. Features described on this website may be revised before the app is distributed. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and may issue updates needed for security, compatibility, or reliability.

The website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, hosting events, network conditions, or factors outside our control.

7. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FortBudget and this website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free results, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement.

Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded where you live.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FortBudget’s operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, financial loss, data loss, or business interruption arising from use of or inability to use the app or website.

Any limitation applies only to the extent allowed by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as FortBudget develops. The effective date above will change when revised terms are posted. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms where permitted by law.
